Challenge
As the client aimed to expand its testing platform across multiple school districts, teachers and administrators struggled with cumbersome workflows, and students faced confusing logins. These issues created both technical headaches and business obstacles.
Technical challenges
Teachers and students struggled with multiple logins and fragmented workflows across different systems, including Clever, ClassLink, Canvas, Skyward, and Schoology. The initial process relied on printed credentials for students and manual Excel uploads for administrators, which was slow, error-prone, and difficult to scale. Transferring user data manually increased the risk of inconsistencies and delayed assessments.
Business challenges
The lack of standard integrations limited the client’s ability to expand into new districts. Without plug-and-play compatibility and RFP-compliant workflows, the client faced barriers in increasing adoption, closing district contracts, and tapping into the full Total Addressable Market (TAM) for K-12 assessment solutions.
Solution
To successfully sell content and assessment solutions to school districts, RFP compliance is essential. Lack of standard integrations, such as LTI, reduces the chances of winning contracts, and districts increasingly demand plug-and-play compatibility.
Aristek was selected due to extensive experience with LMS/SIS integrations and prior EdTech projects. The project’s primary objective was to simplify access for students while automating user management and data transfer between systems.
The integrations implemented in the project enabled districts to access the client’s assessment tools directly through Schoology LMS and other compatible platforms. This created a unified, frictionless workflow for both students and educators.

The project was divided into the following key stages:
1. Discovery phase
- Mapped student and teacher workflows, credential management, and roster processes.
- Identified bottlenecks and opportunities for automation.
- Prioritized the most time-consuming manual tasks and defined integration requirements for LMS and SIS systems.
2. Integration & API design
- Designed SSO flows and roster automation pipelines.
- Developed secure API endpoints for real-time synchronization between platforms.
- Ensured scalability and reliability while minimizing infrastructure overhead.
3. Frontend & UX
- Embedded single-click SSO buttons into LMS dashboards for seamless access.
- Tested usability across devices to ensure a smooth student and teacher experience.
4. Backend & infrastructure
- Implemented lightweight backend services to orchestrate API calls and automate data flow.
- Used serverless deployment for scalability across multiple districts without heavy infrastructure.
5. QA, pilot testing & training
- Conducted pilot testing with select districts to identify and resolve edge cases.
- Delivered hands-on training and documentation for administrators and teachers.
6. Ongoing support
- Provided a dedicated support person in the client’s time zone.
- Monitored integrations in real-time and resolved individual issues promptly.

How it works
Aristek’s team implemented the SSO and roster automation integrations across multiple LMS and SIS platforms. During rollout, Aristek’s engineers, BA, and PM acted as on-the-ground technical support for the client and its users.
Because each district has different infrastructure and capabilities, issues arose naturally during adoption. The team provided individual adaptation for each district, ensuring smooth integration despite these differences.
As a result of the project, the system now operates as follows:
Students log in to their LMS as usual and click a single button to access the client’s assessment platform, automatically authenticated through SSO.
Administrative data, including class rosters and user credentials, is synchronized automatically between LMS/SIS systems and the assessment platform via secure APIs. This eliminated manual Excel uploads and reduced the risk of inconsistencies.
The platform collects engagement and performance data, which can be used to monitor student progress, identify learning gaps, and inform curriculum decisions.
Administrators and content providers can generate reports, track participation, and analyze trends across districts, enabling data-driven operational and strategic decisions.
The system continuously monitors activity, ensuring accurate authentication, reliable data flow, and adaptive support for both students and administrators.
