The share of video content is growing rapidly, along with the length of lectures and clips. As a result, content creators cannot always consistently produce summaries that highlight key points. Therefore, not all content can be created following accessibility guidelines and relevant regulations.
Given this obstacle, the client repeatedly encountered the following challenges:
Due to the influence of social media, many students are acquiring a clip mentality, which is characterized by fragmentation, speed, and superficiality. A lot of learners struggled to extract essential information from lengthy videos, leading to cognitive overload.
As students’ learning habits evolved and educators demanded more tailored content, content creators faced a growing burden. They should have not only adapted materials to meet changing learning styles and accessibility standards but also continuously updated and maintained these resources.
Educators were challenged to assess students’ understanding of the video content without summaries that highlight the main ideas. This was hindering effective teaching strategies, as instructors used to rely on informal assessments rather than structured evaluations that aligned with the key points presented in the videos.
Solution
After a series of joint meetups, it was decided to utilize the existing platform’s functionality and integrate the new AI-based tool. The AI highlights generator features were to include:
- Generate concise summaries of in-house educational materials, including audio, videos, articles, and presentations, to highlight key concepts for learners.
- Ensure seamless integration with the existing eLearning platform for easy access to generated highlights and related resources.

Project scope
For the project, the Aristek team relied on subject matter expertise in AI-based development and the education domain. The project consisted of the following steps:
- Identifying the specific requirements and objectives of the educational institution, including the types of content that will be reworked into highlights.
- Developing a detailed blueprint of the highlight generator’s features, including customized options.
- Choice of an appropriate AI model for generating highlights, ensuring it is tailored to the educational context and capable of processing various media formats (e.g., audio, videos, texts, etc).
- Designing a user-friendly interface for both educators and students, allowing easy access to highlights and relevant features.
- Building the highlights generator, incorporating computer vision, audio processing, and natural language processing techniques to ensure accurate summarization and key concept extraction.
- APIs creation to seamlessly integrate the highlights generator into the existing LMS, ensuring a smooth user experience.
- Testing with actual users to validate the functionality, accuracy, and user satisfaction of the highlight generator.
How does it work
Once the planning was complete, within two months, the Aristek team was on track to reach the intended goal.
Here’s how the generator works:
Using advanced AI models, the LMS automatically analyzes the content and creates concise summaries, capturing key points and concepts for learners.
The course creator can review the text generated using text, video, or audio, with the option to correct, add, or delete information, ensuring the content is accurate and aligned with teaching goals.
All of these highlights are available to the student on the same page as the block of information, meaning they have the choice to view the full material or read only the most significant parts.
As students engage with the highlights, the platform tracks usage and provides insights into how learners interact with the material. Course creators and teachers can see which sections are most useful and how many of them have been read to the end.
Later, using learners’ feedback and view analytics, the course creator can continuously refine the content to improve its clarity and relevance.
