AI co-pilot for legal teams
A mid-sized logistics company with a growing in-house legal department responsible for managing NDAs, service agreements, and vendor contracts across multiple regions.

Key achievements
| 60% | less time spent on routine contract reviews |
| 90% | accuracy in risk detection |
| 50% | time saved across legal operations |
Challenge
The client, a mid-sized logistics company, was experiencing growing operational strain on its in-house legal department as business operations expanded across multiple regions.
During the annual workload review, internal metrics and regional feedback revealed the following key challenges:
Solution
Aristek’s team analyzed the following areas for potential automation within the legal department:
- Tracking and analyzing regulatory developments
- Board reporting
- Amending policies and procedures
- Cross-functional compliance coordination
Based on this analysis, Aristek proposed a custom AI-powered legal co-pilot to assist the legal team with:
Project scope
For this project, the Aristek team combined deep AI expertise with legal domain knowledge through a carefully structured approach:
- Workflow mapping- We partnered closely with the legal team, using process mining tools to analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and target the most time-consuming tasks for automation.
- AI module design- Our team fine-tuned GPT models on anonymized contracts, enhancing clause detection and risk spotting. Advanced NLP pipelines segmented contracts and classified key terms for accuracy.
- Semantic search retrieval- We deployed a vector search database enabling semantic retrieval of clauses and past contracts. This boosted consistency in summarization and drafting across the legal team.
- UI integration- We set up a React frontend and Node.js backend with REST APIs, embedding seamlessly into existing legal and contract management systems. We deployed the solution securely on Azure, including OCR support for scanned documents.
- QA & user training- The team conducted iterative human-in-the-loop testing and active learning to improve AI accuracy. They delivered hands-on training and scenario-based sessions to ensure smooth adoption by the legal staff.
- Ongoing support- We set up real-time AI monitoring and user feedback, enabling continuous tuning and quick fixes. A small legal team first tested the co-pilot, then expanded its use to full documents for a smooth, effective rollout.
How it works
Users upload contracts or link documents directly within their existing legal management system – and that’s where the legal time-saving magic starts.
The AI then scans and analyzes any files using advanced NLP to understand legal language, context, and structure.
The co-pilot builds customized checklists based on company policies or regulations like GDPR, running these across batches of contracts to highlight missing clauses and suggest compliant language.
For each contract, the AI compares clauses against standard templates, flagging unusual or risky terms and presenting side-by-side views to simplify review and negotiation.
It also helps create smarter templates by detecting variables like party names and amounts, allowing conditional clauses to be automatically included or excluded depending on contract details.
When users have questions, such as “What is the renewal period?”, they simply ask the co-pilot, which quickly finds and highlights the relevant contract sections, saving time spent searching manually.
For cross-border contracts, the AI generates draft translations to assist legal teams, with experts reviewing final versions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
All these capabilities are seamlessly integrated into familiar tools like Microsoft Word and SharePoint, keeping users in control with full transparency.
Tools & Technologies
Project results
The Aristek team leveraged AI to revolutionize legal operations by automating routine contract reviews and accelerating risk detection.
By automating time-consuming tasks like due diligence questionnaires, vendor responses, and contract drafting, AI ensures consistent, policy-aligned answers in seconds instead of hours of tedious work. Moreover, the co-pilot continuously learns from user feedback and contract data, improving its accuracy with every interaction.
